piano lessons and voice lessons

I treat all my students with respect and empathy. Over my ten years of experience teaching, I’ve seen my students grow not just as players, but as people. Music doesn’t just teach you to perform, it teaches you about yourself and the world around you. The majority of my students I’ve kept for over five years. I’ve watched them grow and seen first hand how the act of learning to play has helped them navigate other elements in their life. From learning simple spacial relationship concepts to dissecting complicated problems, I truly believe music is the door to deeper learning of all things in life.

Dear Ms. Aimee,

Thank you for the powerful impact you have had on my life over the past six years as my music teacher. I cannot thank you enough for the support you have given me on my musical journey. You have taught me to read music notes, how to sung strongly, and build my self confidence when singing! You have challenged me to push beyond my limits. Every Saturday I looked forward to our lessons, a time when I could learn new techniques, practice my singing skills and get feedback from you! I will always remember the lessons you have taught me and the impact you have had on my life. Thank you for being my teacher.

An Instrument to Practice on: There are lots of affordable options out there that can be financed interest free. If you don’t have an instrument in your home we can have lessons at my homes studio. If the students decides to continue lessons, I can guide you in finding an instrument within your budget. Students who practice gain confidence. Having a decent instrument to practice on is paramount in their development.

Lined Notebook: This is where I’ll write down a practice plan for the week and any technique exercises they are incorporating into their routine. Student are extremely busy these days. It’s very helpful for them to have structure to their practice. Having a notebook with a practice plan already drafted out saves them time and mental energy. It’s also an incredible tool for accountability. If a students hasn’t been able to complete a practice task, it’s always followed by an open discussion of whatever obstacles they may be facing.

Lesson books: This will be where a pupils assigned songs are. For a beginner, these books are very affordable, ranging from $6-$10 and can be bought on amazon. I commonly use lessons books made by the Faber series or Keith Snell series. Once a student advances I start in incorporate pieces by Mozart, Chopin and Bach.
